THE DIET
Dogs are opportunistic omnivores and masticated, microbially digested vegetal matter is an integral component of their natural diet, whether they derive this from their prey’s intestines, animal droppings or the offerings of their best friends (Intestines are the first thing fed to dogs from Eskimo hunts, organs next). Vegetal and meat based Mana Muffin Meals are not only more healthful and biologically appropriate than heavily meat based diets, but ecologically sensitive, reducing land space required for food production. Also, because these meals are a combination of pre and pro-biotics (commonly called synbiotics), they promote beneficial microorganisms to flourish, thus depleting the number of pathogenic organisms in our animals’ habitat (and our habitat).
SUPPORTING LOCAL ORGANIC BUSINESSES
Kohala Wholesome Food Company buys organic pasture fed organ meats from local ranchers and organic vegetables from local organic farmers known personally, thus ensuring farming practices are to the highest standards. Large portions of the vegetables we grow ourselves, uber-organically.
THE BAKERY
The bakery has been built effectively in order to reduce our carbon footprint.
We use energy efficient light bulbs and a fuel efficient oven. All drains are cleaned through the application of natural Effective Microorganisms, remediating and protecting habitat all the way to the ocean. Vegetal and muffin scraps are composted along with the paper packaging. All else is brought to the recycling station to be upcycled, therefore extending life.
THE PACKAGING
The sustainability does not stop in our bakery but extends to you the costumer. The packaging itself can be upcycled or recycled.
- Shipping boxes can be recycled.
- Muffin bags may be used to collect dog waste.
THE FUTURE
It is our vision that in the future we can:
- Purchase Carbon Credits to help offset the food production miles that product uses until localized production is created
- Power the bakery on sustainable energies such as wind or solar
- Create other ecologically sound products
