More About the Muffins
We have created Mana Sprouted Muffins to provide a truly organic and homemade diet for our clients, which follows the some of the ideals and general formulas of great veterinarians, such as Dr. Richard Pitcairn, Dr. Cheryl Schwarz and Dr. Robin Woodley. As part of this quest, we have incorporated the knowledge of holistic food therapies, especially Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the healthful, historic diets of many breeds.
We have also acknowledged the great benefits of freshly sprouting, pre-masticating and pre-digesting the grains. By researching historical methods of food preparation, we have found and use age old, time-tested techniques to naturally preserve our foods in the tradition of sourdough breads, sauerkrauts and jerky.
The Process:
We buy the very best human grade ingredients available, and prepare them fresh per order, in very small batches, using only time-tested, nourishing traditions.
The high-protein seeds of fresh, viable grains and legumes are hand measured and sprouted per individual order, using very healthful Effective Microorganisms. These pro-biotic sprouts are then wet milled at low temperatures and the batter is hand mixed in small, custom batches with the remaining organic, super ingredients. Each batch contains a large amount of the probiotic vegetable mix as well. We immediately bake this batter into muffins at low temperature, which we then freshly pack and ship to dogs across the country. When ordering please allow three days for your order to be processed and shipped. It is best to order at the beginning of the week (ie. Monday) so that your muffins will arrive in the best condition.
This process is a labor of love, embodying the idea of slow-food down to the minute details our ancestors practiced. These intensive processes are the secrets which liberated and naturally preserved nutritional abundance, ensuring the health of people and their companions.
In the tradition of the wise practices of our ancestors we have prepared these foods to their most healthfully potent form. Fresh whole ingredients and historic methodology seems the only way to avoid and minimize the rancidity and oxidation which plague most dog foods.
The muffins are designed to be mixed with organic, ground turkey or beef (raw or lightly cooked) to create a nutritious, high protein meal for most dogs (no one food is perfect for all breeds).
